Shell Beach Wedding from Mark Padgett Wedding Design

Shell Beach Wedding from Mark Padgett Wedding Design:
I fell in love with this wedding the minute I laid eyes on the images from The Collective Photographers, but I fell in love with this Bride when she said she wanted her day to be beach with a bit of bling inspiring her “West Coast Beach with a Kiss of the French Riviera” theme. How fabulous is that? Her vision came to life thanks to the wonderful workings of Mark Padgett Wedding Design, leaving us with a whole lot of gorgeous inspiration right here.

From Mark Padgett from Mark Padgett Wedding Design… Katie’s love of the beach and a bit of bling inspired the “West Coast Beach with a Kiss of the French Riviera” theme for this Central Coast of California cliff-side wedding. The design process begins with a meeting at my office and usually ends up having lunch or cocktails in town. I really want to get to know my clients intimately and I learn much more over tapas and Pinot than at a desk. Katie & Matt wanted to be married at the ocean and wanted it to be elegant but not stuffy and Katie loves herself some bling! When I combined those two ideas together the French Riviera popped into my head. Monaco is beach + bling + elegance! I remember Katie’s face as we went through the design power-point presentation a few weeks later. She sat up in her chair, her jawed dropped and her eyes sparkled with tears. I live for that.
The color palette of French Butter, Blush, Bisque, Cameo and Sunset came from a photo of a bouquet that Katie loved. The accent colors, Cote d’Azur Blue, Grass and Driftwood came from the location. I use accent colors found at each location we design in. It helps to blend the overall color palette into it’s surroundings and keeps it grounded.
We used vintage French furniture to add authenticity and elegance as well as our French Crystal Chandeliers to add the bling. My favortie vintage element was the French Facade we used for the ceremony back drop. I didn’t want to take away from it and so added only a few gorgeous blooms and the lacy Nigella in the Mist in the same tones as the rustic metal.
We used an eclectic approach to the vases with different ideas from the sea: driftwood, urchins, sea glass then added a subtle sparkle with Mercury glass votives. Real driftwood anchored the groupings and a few grey sphagnum moss “nests” with succulents nestled in them reminded me of sea-life. The flowers we used were Juliet, Caramel Antique and Alabaster garden roses, Cafe au Lait Dahlias, Hydrangea and Nigella in the Mist.
The linens were a Moire in “Pelican” (loved that) which looked like drifting sand on the tables. The napkins were a silk Cote d’Azur blue. The menu was chosen to compliment our surroundings as well; A mixed grille of Filet and Prawns served with Matt and Katie’s favorite side dishes. We start designing the wedding menu by having the bride and groom send a list of all of their favorite foods including comfort foods. The appetizers during cocktail hour included mini mac and cheese bites, sushi and the Cliffs Chef made an eggplant bruschetta from a recipe Katie is famous for. Desserts were decidedly French with the exception of the late night hand made Churros. The dance floor was packed all night thanks to Rob with Pacific Entertainment.
The final send off of the bride and groom was sparkling and romantic. I loved working with Katie and Matt and Katie’s mom, Sharon. They were sweet and gracious and so appreciative. A complete joy. Thank you and congrats Mr. and Mrs. Wagner!
