Daylight Saving Time 2013: Everything You Need to Know!

Daylight Saving Time 2013: Everything You Need to Know!:
It's finally here. Almost.
Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend, and for Americans beaten down by a long, dark winter, it's a harbinger of spring and a reason for celebration.
It's also inherently confusing for some people.
Daylight Savings Time 2013
Fortunately, THG is here to break it down for you and get you through this.
Here's everything you need to know about Daylight Savings Time 2013:

  1. It begins officially on Sunday, March 10 at 2 a.m.

  2. Time "springs" forward one hour at that time (see graphic above).

  3. Set your clocks ahead an hour before you go to bed Saturday. Boom.

  4. Or stay up until 2 a.m., turn the clocks to 3 a.m. and hit the sack. Boom.

  5. Your iPhone should do this automatically. Your microwave not so much.

  6. Yes, this means losing an hour of sleep Sunday morning. Not cool.

  7. Especially if you have kids and their nap schedule is messed up. Weak.

  8. But you get an extra hour of daylight in the evening now. Sweet.

  9. The concept of DST dates all the way back to 1895.

  10. It was recently extended in the U.S. to save energy use.

  11. In 2013, Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 3.

  12. If you can't figure out how to change the clock in your car, don't worry. Just make a mental (or Post-It) note that it's an hour slow until 11/3.

  13. Arizona, Hawaii and Puerto Rico residents: Disregard.
There you go. Just 13 easy steps and you're ready for DST '13. Up top.
